| Mr. Alan Matthews, C. Eng., President of Kernow Resources & Developments Ltd., is pleased to
announce that Kernow has applied for the exclusive right to explore for and exploit any coal deposits
discovered on its 100% owned Alto Sobrido property located near the city of Porto in Northern Portugal.
In addition it is pleased to announce that it has received final documentation regarding the award of the
coal rights and awaits Ministerial signature to finalise the grant of the Licence.
The Alto Sobrido property covers na area of 15.192 km² and its southern border is located within 3
kilometres of the last producing coal mine in Portugal. The Gremude Mine is situated in the Pejão
Coalfield which started production in 1886. Toward the end of its’ life the Gremude mine it is reported to
have produced 200,000 tonnes per year of anthracite coal before its closure in 1994. In addition the
northern border of the Alto Sobrido property is within 1.0 kilometre of a series of small open cast pits that
were mined for coal in the 1960’s.
A band of Carboniferous rocks containing the above mention coal deposits, transect the property from
south east to north west. They consist of a basal breccia overlain by a complex system of coal beds,
intercalated by conglomerates, sandstones and schists. Locally the beds are well folded. Regionally the
system trends to 140º east and dips between 60º and 90º towards the north east. The Carboniferous
complex strikes across the Alto Sobrido concession for a distance of approximately 5.0 kilometers.
Preliminary reconnaissance mapping has identified a vertical 0.60 meter wide coal seam near surface on
the Alto Sobrido in addition other limited historic workings for coal have been identified within the
project area.
On receipt of final documentation Kernow intends to conduct a program of surface mapping, sampling
and drilling if justified.
Antimony / Gold
Kernow has also recently completed na underground sampling campaign along na adit at the Ribera de
Serra prospect for gold and antimony mineralization along a strike length of approximately 40 meters.
The Ribera de Serra workings located on the Alto Sobrido property, were last worked at the turn of the
20th century related to the production of antimony and gold. Assay results will be reported when received.
